Walk-In Counselling

Thrive’s Walk-In Counselling Clinic offers prompt service to Halton residents wishing to access a focused conversation to address an issue of concern.  Single-session counselling can provide you with the emotional support, feedback and ideas on how to make positive changes in your life. Each visit is treated like a distinct counselling session with no expectation that you come back for a subsequent session.
For many people, a single session with a counsellor is enough to take a positive first step, and our highly trained counsellors can help.

No appointment is needed and there is no fee for Walk-In service. People are seen on a first come, first served basis and we strive to offer service to everyone attending at our clinic.

People attending Walk-In can be referred into Thrive’s other counselling programs and services or to other community services. Walk-In services are separate and attending Walk–In does not affect your placement into other services.

Who can come?

The Single-session counselling service is appropriate for adult individuals, couples, family and friends. Couples and families will be screened to determine whether members are best seen individually and to ensure consent is in place for minor children.

Thrive is committed to an inclusive environment, welcoming of diversity.

People come to the Walk-in wanting help with a variety of issues that may include but are not limited to: anxiety; depression; social isolation; grief; interpersonal conflict; personal stress; trauma; relationship issues; parenting concerns; substance abuse, gender identity and expression, and coping with abuse.

What to expect at Walk-In.

Upon arriving at the Walk-In, the Intake worker will have you fill in your registration information and a brief questionnaire to help focus on your current concern.  You will also be asked to read some information about your rights as a client. You will then be placed with an available counsellor.  You can expect your visit to take approximately 90 minutes.  We will advise you if there will be a longer wait.
