Merger and Organizational Update

The Boards of Halton Family Services and Access Counselling & Family Services successfully completed formal procedures for a merger and the two agencies officially came together as of October 1, 2015. The agencies agreed to continue operating under the Halton Family Services name while recruiting new leadership and creating a new brand.

Chondrena Vieira-Martin began as Executive Director in January 2016 and the organization has been working diligently to create a new identity while maintaining the high service standards that the community has known for decades.

We are now thrilled to be announcing our new name THRIVE Counselling and excited to begin showing our revisioning of our services to the Halton Community.

Why Thrive?

The creation of a new identity is an ambitious task that required a searching review of our values, goals and purpose as an organization. We looked for a name that spoke to our deep roots in our community, resonated with the development and growth that we see in individuals, families and ourselves as well as welcoming everyone in with the possibilities for their lives.

New Program offerings

With the generous assistance of the Oakville Community Foundation, Thrive is piloting a new Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) informed skills group. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy is a leading evidence-based treatment for individuals who struggle to regulate their emotions.

Location, Location, Location

Thrive continues to offers services in Oakville, Burlington, Milton and Georgetown. We firmly believe we are stronger together and have partnered with Links2Care in Georgetown and Schizophrenia Society of Ontario in Oakville to share space. Stay tuned for more announcements around locations. If you are a community agency that may like to share space, please contact Chondrena Vieira-Martin, the Executive Director of Thrive Counselling.
